Pipe Rehabilitation Trenchless Construction Technology

Pipe Busting Method

The pipe bursting system is a new technology used to replace existing water, sewer or gas mains that has become faulty due to age, corrosion, tree roots infestation, pipe settlement and misaligned pipe joints.

With this system, new pipes can be replaced by being pulled in directly after the old pipe has been fragmented and displaced into the surroundings. Open trenches are no longer required to complete these processes.

The system consists of a rig with hydraulic cylinder, a hydraulic power pack and bursting rods with bore head for bursting and various diameter expanders for pulling in the new pipe. This system can be easily set up for immediate action and requires only two operators to operate it. A high replacement productivity, which can exceed 200m a day, can be achieved with this system.

A hydraulically manoeuvred integral telescopic system ensures a steady guidance for an accurate alignment which is highly essential for sensitive locations. Special alignment rods placed within the pipes eliminates the need for additional hydraulic winch.

Hose Lining Method

The PALTEM-HL Method is another revolutionary technology used to repair or rehabilitate old pipelines.

This method is cost effective and uses air pressure to invert a highly durable and pressure resistant hose into the existing pipeline. The relining hose, which is coated with an adhesive, will be bonded to the host pipe to form a close-fit pipe upon hardening of the adhesive.

The existing pipeline will first be cleaned of any encrustations, debris and intrusions. This process requires two operation pits in order for a cable with scraper, wire brush and / or swabber to be winched through the pipe. Then the liner will be inserted into the pipe by means of a Turning Equipment. For complex pipeline with elbows, a guide belt is installed in the liner in advance. This guide belt is then pulled from the receiving pit by a Pulling Equipment. Curing and cooling of the resin is then carried out before the liner is firmly secured to the ends of the pipe with end rings.
